Going to fast..... *mad drum solo*

January 28th, 2008

Gone is one, and welcomed is another.

I sold my old bike, the Ninja. It's now in the hands of a fellow named "Peter".
I was sick of it, and didn't use it much for road anyway.

Sold it on Friday morning. Then spent the weekend making calls about bikes and such, only to go and purchase one in Adelong on Monday afternoon. Thanks to Jase again for driving me out there.

Bought it from a nice old man called "Peter".

Its a 1998 Yamaha TTR600 Belgarda. Its "fully sick mate".

Can't wait for the dirt biking weekend coming up.
BOYAH!

Bikes n stuff

June 21st, 2007

Two posts in as many days, somethings gone mental!!!

Had my interview with the lovley people at KPMG yesterday. They seemed like nice people. At the moment there is only 1 other techie for the 200 people. And I would change that to two.
Its just looking after the network and computers. Fixing email, and the phones (Phones have been down once in 8 years aparently) re-imaging PC's when people leave. Fixing random issues.
At the moment with 1 person its to much and the guy doesn't even get a lunch break. So our shifts would be staggered so that at least 1 person is there are all times.
And there is 8 Partners of the company there. They are the CEO's (8 of 200 of them....) and they said they were nice people to deal with. Just got to make a good impression first up.
The only thing I am worried about is the dress code. Casual Friday is "No Tie Friday". Its all suits baby. Because they have clients coming into the office some times, and aparently an IT Tech in smart casual is a bad image.
At 45k though, its something I could do, till something better comes along.

Oh, and the bikes are mostly back together, I'm not sure if Josh reads this but I was the reason the front brake didn't go on very well, I kinda pressed the lever when it was off the bike.
On the bright side, I was also the one that fixed it. So it kinda evens out.
If the front brakes blow up from a bad seal, that would be my fault, but it looks fine.
Except for the lack of mud guards, chain and tank, mine and Jase's bike is almost ready to roll.
Had to buy a new second hand rear shock ($150), some random clamps and bolts for the bark bashers ($25), made an exhaust mount from some metal we had lieing around, and probably pick up a new second hand tank, as ours has a leak, dispite covering the leaking area in various goo's and plastic welding with cable ties.
The exhaust still has these 2 tiny holes in it that I covered with exhaust goo, but we shall see if it seals when we start it up.
If not, might have to get that welded.

Karyn's bike that Josh is doing up is also up and running, with re-sealed front forks ($180) and a new rear shock ($150, both of which he still owes me for). We were even able to start it up again yesterday.

PS - Garage has, Ducati 750SS, Kawasaki ZX-6R, Yamaha YZF R6 Road bike, Yamaha YZF R6 Race bike, KLR250 (Karyns), KX 250 2-Stroke (Jase and I), XR250 (Trying to sell), CR250 2 Stroke (Joshs).

And we will be dirt biking either Saturday Arvo and sleep out there for more on Sunday, or just Sunday.

Bikes n stuff

June 2nd, 2007

Tis the weekend to be riding.
Fa la la la laaa, la la la la.

Went out on Saturday Evening.
Met up with a guy called Chris. One of Dave's friends.
And Dave, Chris and I went cruising around Canberra.
Went through Civic, Manuka.
Found some random guy on a 250cc bike, named Rob.
He said he had been riding for 3 weeks.
We went up Mount Ainslie... and he was almost beating me.
Turns out that Mr Ive only been riding for 3 weeks, has been motorcrossing for over 5 years.
And he's a mechanics at a local bike place, and knows a friend of mine through the shop.
Then up and down Black Mountain.
Was a good night, lots of drag races from red lights, or rolling races. Major fun.

And this arvo we did it all over again.
Chris took me and Dave to his friend Pete's house.
Pete has a Turbo 750 Ninja. (Old 80's one), and also a CBR 1000 Repsol Replica.
Major nice bikes. But he had done his ankle so didn't come out with us.

We cruised around Tuggers, then up the parkway to Black Mountain again.
Went up, stopped at the top for a bit, and on the way down we went past about 10 bikes going up.
So we got to the bottom, turned around again and went up.
Turns out there was a friend of a friend in their group.
We had a nice chat.
There was a fairly new Ducati 749, a 06 Ducati Sports Classic 1000 (The one that I want), few random Jap bikes.
And we rode down again in a group.

After we got to the bottom we headed for Civic. And I was first in line at a set of lights behind a car. Car took of like cars do, and I lent it out wide and got into the lane beside it and gave it a bit of a twist, and saw a cop car coming the other way. Slammed the brakes on, geared down.
Cop cruised by. :)

After that just came home. Had a nice lean angle on the large roundabout. Boots and Draggins give me more confidence in the corners than sneakers and pants.

Anyway, more ground breaking news soon.
But for now, foodsies.

Oh, and due to the overtime, I made about $187 bucks.
Spent about $60 on petrol :)

Footy

April 20th, 2007

At the moment, I'm back from the footy.
We won.

Got a call from Jase at work today. And he asked if I would like to go to the Union.
Brumbies v the Western Force.
When we got there, Jase handed me (The designated driver) a VIP parking pass.
We parked about 2 minutes away from the gate.
When we got there I said that because I was driving, they had to pay my ticket.
To my uber surprise, Jase whipped out 3 Corporate box pass's.

We went into the box. It was smaller than I thought it would be.

They got 12 seats outside, 12 seats inside, free food and free booze.

Since its 12:15, I will sum things up.

Brumbies won.
Little George did a bit of biff, which was awesome.
It was cool. Had a great time.

But it didn't feel like rugby.
Rugby should be an $8 warm beer, and a $5 cold pie.

I had quiche and sprite..... free.

Rock Paper Scissors

April 16th, 2007

Ok, I had this thought a while ago, but it needs writing down.

You have Rock, you have Paper and you have Scissors.

Rock beats Scissors,
Scissors beats Paper,
and Paper beats rock.

As Zapp Branigan would say "Kiff, we have a conundrum."
But I have solved this problem.

Rock beats Scissors, you get a rock, bash some scissors, you got some smashed scissors, cant cut shit. Works.
Scissors beats paper, paper gets cut up, you got confetti, its not paper. Works.
Paper beats rock. You get paper, and a rock. Cover the rock with paper... know what you got? A rock covered with paper, its still a fucking rock. Can still smash scissors with it cant you? DOESN'T FUCKING WORK!

Therefore, rock beats all.
You now know how to win.
Anyone argues, direct them to the pants.
